Nexus Transfer is developed and provided by TAMAD.

This Privacy Policy explains how Nexus Transfer handles information when you use the application on Android, Windows, or Meta Quest.

1. Overview

Nexus Transfer is a device-to-device file transfer application. It allows users to send and receive files between compatible devices over a local network, such as Wi-Fi or a personal hotspot.

Nexus Transfer does not require a user account and does not operate a cloud storage service for your files.

TAMAD does not operate a cloud server or remote database for storing your transferred files or Nexus Transfer transfer history.

2. Information Handled by Nexus Transfer

Nexus Transfer may handle the following information as part of its normal functionality.

Device Identity and Device Name

Each installation of Nexus Transfer generates a local cryptographic identity used to identify and authenticate the installation during device discovery and transfers. The associated private key remains stored on the device.

A cryptographic fingerprint derived from the installation's certificate may be exchanged with nearby Nexus Transfer devices over the local network. This fingerprint is used for device identification, deduplication, and secure peer authentication.

Nexus Transfer also uses a device name to identify devices to nearby peers. The device name may be chosen by the user or may be obtained from the operating system. Depending on the platform, the default name may reveal information such as a phone model or computer hostname.

Device names and cryptographic fingerprints may therefore be visible to other devices on the same local network when Nexus Transfer is operating.

Nexus Transfer does not use hardware identifiers such as an IMEI, device serial number, or MAC address as its application identity.

Files and File Information

When you choose files or folders to transfer, Nexus Transfer processes the selected files and related information, such as file names, sizes, file types, and folder structure, in order to perform the transfer.

Files are transferred directly between participating devices or between the device and a browser using Web Sharing.

TAMAD does not receive, upload, or store copies of your transferred files on TAMAD-operated servers.

Transfer History

Nexus Transfer may store transfer history locally on your device. Depending on the platform and transfer, this may include:

  • Transfer date and time

  • Whether the transfer was sent or received

  • Peer or browser name

  • File names and relative folder paths

  • File sizes

  • Whether an item was a file or folder

  • Save location

  • Transfer source or type

Transfer history is stored locally and is used to provide the application's history functionality.

Nexus Transfer does not upload this history to TAMAD-operated servers.

Application Preferences

Nexus Transfer stores certain application settings locally, which may include:

  • Device name

  • Theme preference

  • Save-location settings

  • Transfer-related settings such as a user-configured receive PIN

  • Other preferences required for application functionality

These settings remain on the device unless the user removes them through available application or operating-system controls.

3. Local Network Communication

Nexus Transfer uses local network communication to discover nearby devices and transfer files.

Information exchanged between Nexus Transfer devices may include device names, cryptographic fingerprints, file information, transfer requests, transfer status, and other information necessary to discover, authenticate, and complete a transfer.

Normal device-to-device transfers use authenticated encrypted communication designed to protect information while it is transmitted between participating Nexus Transfer devices.

Web Sharing

Nexus Transfer also provides an optional Web Sharing feature that allows a web browser on the local network to send files to or receive files from the application.

Web Sharing uses HTTP rather than HTTPS. Information transferred through Web Sharing is therefore not encrypted by Nexus Transfer while traveling across the local network. Users should only use Web Sharing on networks they trust.

While Web Sharing is active, Nexus Transfer may temporarily process information associated with the connecting browser, including its IP address and a coarse browser/device description derived from the browser's connection information.

This information is used for purposes such as identifying the browser during the current sharing session, associating transfers with the correct session, and limiting repeated PIN attempts. This information is processed temporarily and is not maintained as a permanent IP-address database by TAMAD.

Temporary session information, transfer tokens, and temporary files used during Web Sharing are deleted or cleared after the relevant transfer or sharing session. Temporary files may also be cleaned up when the application starts after an interrupted session.

Web Sharing may create temporary ZIP archives when folders or multiple files are prepared for download. These temporary archives are removed after use or during subsequent cleanup.

Files received through Web Sharing remain in the storage location selected by the user.

4. QR Code Scanning

On supported Meta Quest devices, and where applicable on other supported platforms, Nexus Transfer may use the device camera to scan QR codes for features such as opening or connecting to a Nexus Transfer Web Sharing address.

Camera frames used during QR scanning are processed locally on the device and temporarily in memory for the purpose of detecting the QR code.

Nexus Transfer does not intentionally store or transmit those camera frames to TAMAD or to a third-party service.

The decoded QR content is returned to the application for processing. When a QR code contains a web address, Nexus Transfer may open that address in the user's browser after the user confirms the action.

5. Advertising

The Android version of Nexus Transfer uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob) to display banner advertisements.

The Windows and Meta Quest versions of Nexus Transfer do not use Google Mobile Ads or display advertisements.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or process information from the device and information related to advertising activity. Depending on Google's SDK behavior, configuration, applicable device or platform settings, and other circumstances, this may include information such as:

  • IP address

  • Device information

  • Advertising identifiers or other identifiers, such as Advertising ID or App Set ID

  • User interactions with advertisements or the application

  • Diagnostic and performance information

  • Information used for advertising measurement, personalization, security, and fraud prevention

Nexus Transfer does not independently request or maintain advertising identifiers for its own purposes. Information processed through the Google Mobile Ads SDK is handled according to Google's applicable services, policies, and practices.

TAMAD does not operate the advertising infrastructure or control the information that Google may process through its advertising services.

6. Information Sharing

TAMAD does not sell or rent your personal information.

Nexus Transfer does not operate its own analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting, or cloud-storage servers.

Information required to perform a normal file transfer is exchanged directly between the participating devices over the local network.

During Web Sharing, files and information necessary to perform the requested transfer are exchanged directly between the Nexus Transfer device and the user's web browser.

Nexus Transfer does not send transferred files, transfer history, or application settings to TAMAD-operated servers.

The Android version uses Google Mobile Ads as a third-party advertising service. Information processed by Google through its advertising services is subject to Google's own policies and practices.

7. Data Security

Nexus Transfer is designed to keep file transfers between participating devices rather than sending files through a TAMAD-operated cloud service.

Normal device-to-device transfers use authenticated encrypted communication.

Web Sharing is different: it uses HTTP on the local network and therefore does not provide transport encryption through Nexus Transfer.

Nexus Transfer also uses cryptographic device identities to help authenticate participating devices during secure device-to-device transfers.

No method of electronic transmission or local storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should take appropriate care when choosing the networks and devices used for file transfers, particularly when using Web Sharing.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Nexus Transfer's transfer history and application preferences are stored locally on the device.

Transfer history may be removed individually or cleared through the application's available controls.

Application data and settings may also be removed using the applicable operating-system controls or by uninstalling the application.

Files received through Nexus Transfer remain in the storage location selected by the user and are not automatically deleted by TAMAD. Users can manage or delete those files using the normal file-management tools available on their device.

Temporary files created during transfers or Web Sharing are removed after they are no longer needed, subject to normal application cleanup behavior.

TAMAD does not maintain a remote database containing Nexus Transfer transfer history, application preferences, or copies of transferred files.

Advertising-related information processed by Google is subject to Google's applicable retention and deletion practices.

9. Children's Privacy

Nexus Transfer is not specifically directed toward children.

Nexus Transfer does not require accounts or registration and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system.

10. Third-Party Services

The Android version of Nexus Transfer currently integrates:

Google Mobile Ads SDK / Google AdMob

This service is used to provide banner advertisements.

Windows and Meta Quest versions do not integrate this advertising service.

Google's handling of information is governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and practices.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to Nexus Transfer, its features, third-party services, or applicable requirements.

When this policy is updated, the Last Updated date at the top of this page will be changed.
